Heart House Community
Last Updated: June 10, 2026

At Heart House Community, your privacy and your sense of safety matter deeply to us. This Privacy Statement explains what information we collect through HeartHouseCommunity.com (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

Who We Are
Heart House Community is operated by Anita Anderson (“we,” “us,” or “our”), based in California. We offer books, written resources, and a vetted peer support community for survivors with dissociative identity disorder (DID) and those who walk alongside them. Questions about this Statement may be sent to hearthousecommunity@gmail.com.

Information We Collect

  • Information you provide directly. When you contact us, ask to join the community, subscribe to updates, or correspond with us, you may share information such as your name, email address, and the contents of your messages. If you apply to join our peer support community, our vetting process may ask you to share additional personal information so we can keep the community safe.

  • Sensitive information. Because of the nature of our community, you may choose to share sensitive personal information with us, including details about your health, your history, or your experiences. You are never required to share more than you wish. We treat anything you share with care and confidentiality, and we use it only for the purposes you intended.

  • Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our Site (hosted on the Wix platform) may automatically collect certain technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described below.

How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:

  • respond to your messages and requests;

  • review applications and administer membership in our peer support community;

  • send you updates, newsletters, or announcements you have asked to receive;

  • maintain the safety, integrity, and confidentiality of our community;

  • operate, maintain, and improve the Site; and

  • comply with the law and protect our rights and the rights of others.

How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we never will. We share information only in these limited situations:

  • Service providers. We use trusted third parties to operate our Site and communicate with you — for example, Wix (our website host) and our email service provider. These providers may process your information only on our behalf and only to provide their services.

  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or if we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect someone’s safety, or protect our rights.

  • With your direction. We share information you have asked us to share.

Cookies and Tracking
Our Site uses cookies and similar technologies, primarily through the Wix platform, to help the Site function, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use the Site. You can usually adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies, though some features of the Site may not work properly if you do.

The Wix Platform
Our Site is built and hosted on Wix. When you use our Site, certain information is also processed by Wix in accordance with its own privacy practices. We encourage you to review Wix’s Privacy Policy to understand how it handles data.

Email Communications
If you subscribe to our updates or newsletters, you may unsubscribe at any time by following the link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly. We will honor your request promptly.

How We Protect Your Information
We take reasonable measures to protect the information you share with us. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please share sensitive information thoughtfully.

How Long We Keep Information
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Statement, to maintain our community, or as required by law. When information is no longer needed, we take steps to delete it or remove identifying details.

Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. California residents, under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended), may have the right to:

  • know what personal information we have collected about them;

  • request that we delete personal information we hold;

  • request that we correct inaccurate personal information;

  • opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (note: we do not sell or share your information for these purposes); and

  • not be treated differently for exercising these rights.

To make a request, please contact us at hearthousecommunity@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

Children’s Privacy
Our Site and community are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Links to Other Websites
Our Site may contain links to other websites, such as Amazon (where our books are sold) or YouTube (where testimonials may appear). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

Changes to This Statement
We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above. We encourage you to review it periodically.

A gentle note: this is peer support, offered from lived experience. It is not clinical therapy. If you are in danger or in crisis right now, please reach out for immediate help. In the U.S., call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or text HOME to 741741. Please come find me when you are safe.
